Featured Coordinator
Vivian Hockaday
Vivian has been the MCC Regional Coordinator for DJS’ Baltimore City Region for the past six years. And under her leadership, the Baltimore City Region has exceeded its’ goal every year. According to Kim Bones, Director of Intergovernmental Relations for DJS, “Vivian has gone above and beyond her duties to help those in need. She has been an inspiration to us all.”
Conducting special events is one of Vivian’s specialties. In 2008, she organized the first Baltimore City MCC Kick-Off at the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center. Staff from various state and local government agencies attended the Kickoff – DJS, Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, and the Circuit Court, Juvenile Division.
Besides volunteering her time, each year Vivian makes a personal contribution to MCC by organizing and financing bake sales, dinner sales, and drawings where all proceeds are given to the Campaign. Her donations of gift cards and gift baskets provide incentives for such categories as the first Baltimore City Regional staff member to turn in their MCC pledge card and the first three Baltimore City Regional staff who become Leadership Givers. “I love what I do,” says Vivian. “This is my way of giving back to the community.”
As each year’s campaign ends, every Baltimore City Regional staff member who contributed to MCC receives a thank you letter. “Vivian sets a great example for State employees and the Maryland Charity Campaign,” adds Ms. Bones. “The Department of Juvenile Services is very proud of her!”
