The 2008 MCC Campaign Exceeds Last Year’s Total
Raises $4,054,145

Once again, the Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC) had a banner year. The 2008 Campaign raised an incredible $4,054,143! “We began our campaign knowing that 2008 would be a challenging year,” says Donna Talbert, manager of MCC. But, because of the generosity of Maryland State employees and retirees and their outpouring of support, we raised a little more than last year. It’s a remarkable achievement.”

DHMH Begins the 2009 Campaign in a Big Way

DHMH CheckDepartment of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) Secretary John Colmers presents a symbolic check for $3,000.00 to Donna Talbert (center), manager of the Maryland Charity Campaign. The actual hard cash was raised back in April when DHMH sponsored a Spring Fling event.

Outside vendors were invited to sell their wares in the O'Conor Building lobby. Each vendor paid a table fee of $60.00 that went directly to the 2009 Maryland Charity Campaign. Theresa Carrington (pictured on the right), a DHMH coordinator, came up with idea and helped implement it.

Circuit Court of Carroll County Announces Early Donations

In May, Debbie Boog-Sherman let us know that the Circuit Court of Carroll County had already raised $522 for the 2009 Campaign. “We’re so excited and pleased!” says Boog-Sherman. This just shows that it’s never too early to on the campaign. Congratulations CCCC!

The Maryland Charity Campaign Moves Toward a “Greener” Future

MCC believes in the importance of protecting the environment and has embarked on efforts to make the Campaign a “greener” one. You may remember last year’s incentive - the red and white pen – that was made of biodegradable cornstarch. This year’s incentive is made of recycled paper and is eco-friendly as well.

In an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is used for directories, posters and other promotional materials, everything will be available for downloading on the Charity’s website ... just click on the Coordinators Corner tab.
